After a long week of Benchmark testing, we are getting started on our novel. Before students can read too much into novels, however, they will be introduced to the final product after reading the novel: an essay. This year, students are required to take a writing test that not only checks their abilities with conventions and revisions, but it also tests their ability to compose a well-formed essay. As a result, students will be getting notes on Monday regarding the structure of an essay. Afterwards, they will be given time during the week to construct a 3D model that depicts the structure of an essay. Full assignment details and the grading rubric are available in Google Classroom.
